Hosted by South Africa’s most sought–after TV presenter and super model, Bonang Matheba a.k.a.“Queen B.,” and Salem Media’s executive producer, Pavlina Osta, took place on October 12, 2019 inside the Cowboys Golf Club in Grapevine, TX. The Gala celebrated and honored community change-makers and rallied support for JB Dondolo, a charity founded by Lumbie Mambo to continue her father’s legacy of aiding the less–fortunate.

Lumbie asked everyone to support New Jersey relief efforts addressing the water crisis they face. Most of the evening’s pledges will provide clean water to New Jersey. While the evening focused on this water crisis, the charity’s focus is still on its long-term project refurbishing community hospital in Africa that serves a low-income population.

All VIP guests received signature wine from RejectedNot (a Dallas company) packaged in tall white boxes adorned with black ribbons. Another VIP gift was Vi Bella Jewelry’s blue soft bags stuffed with handcrafted jewelry, a collaborative effort promoting Vi Bella’s hardworking artisans.

Cynthia Bailey, supermodel and Bravo’s Real Housewives of Atlanta star, gave the touching keynote speech. She followed this with a Q&A session accessible to only a few VIP guests. Before this reality star left the stage, she auctioned her beautiful bag to benefit the charity; it sold for $350.

House of Neuville Jewels auctioned the “Circle of Life” pendant specifically designed for the Equanimity Awards. The pendant, an unending circle, symbolizes all of us, on Earth, in the diversity and oneness of the circle of life, went for $1,200. The 2 Brothers in the Kitchen @2BrosITK (12 and 14-year old brothers) sold their books and cupcakes and presented a generous check for $450 – a contribution towards the kitchen at Igusi Hospital in Africa they are sponsoring. In attendance to support the cause were doctors Barbara and Jeffery Adelglass, long-time supporters of Lumbie’s events and JB Dondolo.

Sibongile Mlambo (actress in Siren, Lost in Space, Teen Wolf, and Honey 3) hosted the red-carpet interviews. Pavlina Osta and Kristen Geez from Advising Generation Z assisted.

GRAMMY® and Two-Time Billboard Music Award nominee Jekalyn Carr, who performed her widely loved song “You Will Win,” inspired and entertained attendees. Dallas’ local rising singer, rapper, and songwriter Kosi Jah wowed the audience with her love song. Comedian and actor Alfred Kainga added a nice touch and brought the crowd to roaring laughter.

Bornface Chinemba provided DJ services. Event decorations were provided by MK Décor and company.

The Equanimity Awards thanks Patricia Ellis, all volunteers and EVERYONE for their generosity!
